Painting Neither solid nor present2026

pigment and acrylic on linen
20 x 25 cm

Since the day my grandmother said goodbye, I’ve wondered if she carries herself more lightly.  She has lived her life tending her small garden where seasons are measured by the growth of our sweet orange osmanthus tree. The calligraphy brush traces an ellipse, suspended between substance and presence.  If I could, I would plant morning flowers to rest in her dreams.
