Temporality is inherent to the structure of the image— life and light are at once both implied and permeating within this two-panelled painting. The emphasis on the materiality of raw canvas serves as a contrast to and subtly used to accentuate a “minus” as well as “plus” way of thinking and making.  The emergence of, as Lee Ufan wrote, “a ‘minus’ way of thinking along with our ‘plus’ has to come, by simultaneously considering to make something and to dissipate something”.
